The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) has invited Ms. Anita Kim, representative of proponent of USD 700 million Combined Cell Power Plant based in South Korea. The invitation was made following a strategic meeting with Korean investors and Freeport delegates before the latter returned to the Philippines recently.
In its statement released on Tuesday, the AFAB said proposed facility will utilize liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its primary energy source. The Authority has yet to identify possible site for the LNG power plant. Total investment was estimated to cost USD700 million for the accompanying LNG storage facility.
AFAB said the visit by Korean investor marks the beginning of exploratory collaboration as Freeport committed to providing the necessary information to support the proponent’s ongoing feasibility study.
“This engagement reflects AFAB’s proactive approach to attract large-scale investments in energy and infrastructure to support sustainable and inclusive Freeport development,” the AFAB said.
It added that Ms. Kim’s visit to the Freeport Area of Bataan will give her deeper appreciation of the investment environment and operational advantages what with good facilities and business-friendly local government units.
